I’m extremely disappointed with the way my mother was treated at Calvert Animal Hospital. She went in crying and extremely distressed because our dog was actively dying and she urgently needed help. Instead of being met with compassion or assistance, she was dismissed and told they were in a meeting. When someone walks into an animal hospital in tears because their pet is in a life-threatening situation, they should be treated with urgency and compassion. Being turned away because the staff was in a meeting was incredibly upsetting and left us feeling like our dog’s life wasn’t being taken seriously. Thankfully, our dog is safe now. We went to another animal hospital, where the staff took the situation seriously, provided great care, and actually helped us when we needed it. I understand that veterinary hospitals can be busy, but the way this situation was handled was unacceptable to our family. I hope they reconsider how they handle emergencies and distressed pet owners in the future. If I could give zero stars, I would.

The staff and Vet were very kind. Vet was very knowledgeable about our breed and issues. Our dog is older so I appreciate that he was realistic/honest of our options and discreet of the worst case scenarios in front of my children who had to come with us. No pushing expensive tests or any talk of surgery considering our boy’s age and health issues. Thankfully the reasonable medication prescribed seems to have turned things around for our fur baby and he is already doing so much better. They also started us with a small amount in case we need to change so we were not stuck paying for medication we possibly couldn’t use long term. These little things really make a difference when other places we have gone to have not made it so easy to afford and give our pets the best care possible.

Caring staff, they won’t over charge you like others will. Thank you all so much for the help over the years with my animals. Truly appreciate you all.

The office staff were very friendly and the vet and vet tech were so patient and kind to my cat. They took their time with the exam and answered all my questions thoroughly. They even gave a discount for first responders during the month of July!
