Cat And Dog Hospital Of Columbia

PLEASE READ IT ALL We have been bringing our dogs to this veterinary practice for over 25 years, and throughout that time, our family has trusted them with countless pets. Because of that long history, it is extremely disappointing to say that our recent experiences have raised some serious concerns. The main concerns are misdiagnosis, losing/deleting records and malpractice. I have 2 dogs that are patients at Cat and Dog Hospital. One is 10 years old, the other is a puppy that has been their patient since day one. Im starting off with my puppy, she is in great health. However she was born with a birthmark on her leg which doesn’t allow hair to grow. Every single time I have gone they’ve said its something different. A birthmark, chemical burn, stuck in a fence and caused a scar. Mind you she has had this since she was 8 weeks old. At one point they made it seem like we had harmed our animal and tried to pass guilt onto us for something she was born with. My older Dog is in great health but had some issues with her teeth. The issues with the teeth led to an infection which prompted a vet visit. The solution (which made sense) was to do a dental cleaning and tooth extractions. My dog was dropped off for her pending surgery and everything was going great until I received a phone call saying they could not complete the surgery that my dog needed and that I was paying a lot of money for. The hold up was not my dog or her health. They called me and said that their equipment was not working properly and that they were unable to complete the extractions. I then posed the question of “well when did you discover the equipment wasn’t working?” They answered that it was discovered BEFORE her surgery while operating on another dog. Instead of rescheduling the surgery they decided to proceed without my permission or knowledge and did half of the procedure. They also mentioned that Luna was already being put under while the other dog was being operated on. As you can imagine, I was not happy considering my almost 10 year old dog needed to be put under anesthesia. Not to mention, they said they would have extracted teeth had the equipment been working. Their solution was to either send her to a specialist, leave it as is or bring her back to be put under anesthesia AGAIN. We decided to take her back to get the teeth pulled. They called a handful of times which was great because my questions got answered but what’s absurd is that the amount of teeth being pulled reduced from 12 to 7/8. I mentioned the original 12 teeth that THEY xrayd and mentioned. Their answer was that they accidentally deleted the original information from the previous surgery (which was less than a month ago). At this point I was extremely frustrated. Luckily the surgery went well and she’s recovering. Putting a dog this old under Anastasia poses serious risks and because of their neglect and mistakes we had to do it twice. As a long time customer, Im extremely happy to say that they will NEVER be coming back. We will be taking our animals elsewhere, where they are actually cared for. Where their records dont get lost or deleted and where things are done correctly the first time.

Dr Feinstein went out her way to make me comfortable about my car’s health she replied to a post on Facebook and without any thought asked me to make an appointment my normal vet stated surgery dr Feinstein was confident surgery wouldn’t fix his problem she waived the exam fee and I only had to pay for the meds which is very hard to find shows how caring and compassionate they are about your animals. It’s not about money.

They are SO SO amazing. I decided to switch out vets when my 16 year old cat started to get sicker. And I realized that the Countryside animal hospital was just meant for rich people. Not every day to day folks. These guys here saw my cat when initially it was a follow up. But sadly he got sicker. So it turned into an actual visit. Forget about vaccines, etc. Since than my cat has been going through so so much. And they have been there every step of the way. Also they treated him in front of me, instead of taking him back where I could not comfort him. They had hydraulic tables that you could lower in order to administer the fluids faster. Also they taught me how to administer the fluids from home. To make his little life easier. The vet has been ON POINT. DR. Blare is the best ever I have encountered. Where as other vets will make you visit them non stop for any communication. We have felt free to email her with updates. And she will respond with the corrected treatment plan. As well the office staff, they have been so so amazing, keep in mind, they may be limited to what they can do, so do email the doc. But over all, this has been the BEST veterinary experiance I have had without having to be a millionaire. Thank you guys so so much for all of the amazing help and treatment my baby has received. ❤️
